Getting Started with Window Treatment Selection
Here are a few questions a window treatment consultant might ask to get you pointed in the right direction:
- Do you want blinds, shades, sheers or shutters?
- What color, fabric or texture do you want?
- Do you want, top-down, bottom-up or top-down/bottom-up
- Are you a tilter or a lifter?
- Operation – corded, cordless, motorization?How do you want them installed – inside or outside mount?
- Opacity – sheer, semi-sheer, semi-opaque, opaque or blackout
Functionality Just as Important as Style
How your new window treatments look is of course important. How they function, however, is just as important. Knowing your time is precious, our design consultant will ask a series of questions before making recommendations. For example, if energy efficiency is important to you, we won’t show you products that don’t meet that requirement.
Here are a few other questions that are important before product recommendations begin.
- Why are you changing your window treatments? What do you like or don’t like?
- What is your decorating style?
- Is privacy important to you?
- Do you want to reduce or increase natural light into the room
- How is the room used? Is there a TV in the room?Do you have kids or pets?
- What is your budget?
In Home Consultations
What you liked in the showroom might not look so great on your window. Our design consultant will bring the product samples, fabric and color swatches to you so you can really see how the products and colors interact within your home. Then they will have your windows professionally measured and installed. Our certified installer won’t leave until all your questions have been answered and you’ve been shown how to operate and care for your new window treatments.
